You can thank the Cardinals and their inability to hold a lead last night, as well as keep the lights on, for this DFR’s delayed posting.

On to it…

Memphis 11, Albuqurque 1

Springfield 5, Corpus Christi 6

Palm Beach 0, Dunedin 5

Riverbandits 3, West Michigan 2

Wasn’t there also a Memphis game? There were reports of Adron Chambers hitting two home runs there.

  2. Ted says:

When did Greg Garcia move up to Springfield? Is he skipping palm beach or just filling in?

  3. T Bird says:

Cleto promoted to take the spot of Holliday.

  4. Tony says:

I hate to be a negative nanny here, but once again it appears that Adams didn’t walk again. Those 4 for 5s are going to kill his trade value.

    • Cards Fan in Chitown #2 says:

Those are just killer aren’t they!! Darn him

    • JBCardsFan says:

Yes, for shame that 4 times out of 5 Adams chose to swing and make contact to get on base instead of taking pitches to get a walk.

What a worthless strategy. Screw him and his .344 BA, 1.000+ OPS, and league leading homer total. Pitiful.

    • JBCardsFan says:

To carry this absurd argument further, would you ask Albert Pujols to take pitches if he were playing in a Little League game?

      • Forsch31 says:

You know what’s more absurd. Stupid snark that completely misses the point.

Why should intelligent debate happen here? It’s so late 1990s.

        Screw this place. I’m done.

    • JBCardsFan says:

Hey, looking at your comment more, I think your comment is supposed to be sarcastic. If that’s the case, sorry for jumping on you.

  5. Jeff says:

Schneider in relief again. This time 2 innings… curiouser and curiouser.

  6. Cards Fan in Chitown #2 says:

What got into Blair last night? No ER’s over 5.2…… Great to see him have a good outing finally

  7. GL says:

Relativity? Like I’m a good sprinter compared to a rock.

I saw that Springfield game on the Internet. They strike out Cox three times with curve balls then was HBP and taken out of game. I hope he’s ok.
Adam did outstanding after coming back from injury. Got an extra double on what should of been a caught fly ball.
Swauger missed catching an important fly ball. He over ran it in LF.
Castellanos hits 13 HR and in the 9th tried to help his team from stopping a HR from Villar to CF. He flew over the fence. Hopefully he’s not injured.

I can’t believe Corpus Christi has a 4-5 foot fence all around the outfield. I felt I was back in my Elementary school days instead of a Pro game.

Lots of luck to Cleto. Also heard during game Thomas is the organizations pitcher for may. Congrats.

  9. Andrew says:

WHere was this game on the internet?

    • Jeff says:

MilbTV carries all the Corpos Christie home games, so they will have the springfield games on again tonight and Friday (Shelby Miller is starting I believe).

Springfield has another series with CC in August that will be broadcast as well on MilbTv

      • Andrew says:

Great thanks for the info….I have milb.tv but haven’t watched much this year because Memphis is SO painful to watch this year.

  10. Brian B says:

Yes Andrew, on the Internet. It freezes up sometimes but it’s great to watch. Wish they would have it for all the double A games. Even if they charge a little more. They should put some High A on there as well. You can go to milb.tv or just pull up springfield cardinals website and click on watch. There is a charge but it’s worth it

  11. RichardRich says:

Those Ryan Jackson should be moved to Memphis days were fun, the poor guy is down to .239 which is lower than Kozma last year thanks to this current 24 for 141 .170 slide after that monster 21 for 47 start.

  12. Shanky says:

Okay, after reading this version of the DFR I’ll say it: We need to add at least TWO big-time hitting prospects in this draft. I like how Adams is overachieving, I like the potential of Tavaras when he’s healthy, and Cox has been solid thus far. . .but I’m craving a Mike Stanton-type presence in the minors. Or a Mike Moustakas. Someone with a license to thrill at the plate. We’ve got Shelby and Martinez. . .now we need some equally-exciting offensive counterparts.

    • JBCardsFan says:

      Why is Adams “overachieving”?

      • Kdizzle says:

If you want to pretend that his walk rate isn’t a problem when he plays such an offensively demanding position, and has nearly no other baseball skills besides hitting for power, then fine.

But prepared to be disappointed when he is playing at a replacement level in the major leagues in two or three seasons.

      • Felonius_Monk says:

You expected him to jump two levels and hit for a .410+ wOBA?

        Impressive prescience.

    • BigRob says:

There’s also a possibilty we could land a big Internation FA this year too. Although that kid will likely be 16-18 years old and may not play in the USA this year.

    • Andrew says:

I agree but we don’t have the number 3 pick so Moustakas may be tough. Getting a Mike Stanton type would be great though. Disagree about Adams overachieving. He’s doing exactly what he’s capable of.

      • Shanky says:

Well, by describing Adams as “overachieving”, it wasn’t meant as a slight. But the fact is, he’s a 23-round pick from Slippery Rock with a slightly heavy body (I won’t say “bad body, because I don’t want to offend) who wasn’t on a lot of scouts’ radars before tearing up the Texas league. And he did jump two levels. So, “overachieving” is one word I would use to describe his Cardinal career thus far. He’s surpassed my expectations for sure.

    • Felonius_Monk says:

Unfortunately it’s an arm-heavy draft class.

We should pick the best player available, disregarding position, especially if it’s a high schooler.
