It was a pretty uneventful day on the farm, as Memphis killed and Springfield was killed. Both Quad Cities and Palm Beach enjoyed a day off. Most of the attention was put forth toward the draft, while the Cardinals selected Kolten Wong with their 1st pick. Tomorrow we’ll round up even more future redbirds that will be added to our future redbirds reports (say that 5 times fast).
- Nick Stavinoha hit a 3-run homer in the cleanup spot and finished 3-5 with 5 RBI’s. He’s still only hitting .236 with an OPS hovering around .700 and remains doubtful to be any sort of contributor with the Cardinals in the future with the rise of Jay and Craig.
- Donovan Solano went a perfect 5-5 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI’s
- Andrew Brown hit 3rd and recorded 3 RBI’s, while finishing 2-6 for the game
- Pete Kozma hit 2nd and was 1-4 with 2 walks. He’s been hitting better since getting a taste of the bigs
- Brandon Dickson pitched 7 solid innings giving up only 1 run, 1 walk, and 5 hits. He also struck out 8
- Jermaine Curtis was 2-4
- Zack Cox finished 2-4
- The rest of the lineup wasn’t really worth mentioning, as Domnit Bolivar, Ryan Jackson, and Eric Duncan each added a single
- No extra-base hits were recorded for Springfield, while Alex Castellanos got the bad hat trick with 3 K’s
- Kevin Thomas lasted a full 1/3 inning, giving up 7 runs off of 5 hits and 2 walks. He gave up a grand slam to Vince Belnome
- Richard Castillo relieved him and had a line of 4 IP, 6 H, 2 R,4 BB, and 2 K
- Springfield pitching gave up a total of 5 extra-base hits
