Baseball Beginnings has the drop on Ehrlich:
Let’s start with the bat. A left-handed hitting catcher with a good, lean, physically projectable body will get a look every time.
Defensively is where he has the best chance to hang around and cash some paychecks in the coming years. He lifts his hind quarters as well as any catcher I’ve run across in this draft cycle, and yes, it is hard for me to find catchers who are athletic and strong enough to do this all the time. He has what I term supple and strong hands, which means I know this guy can handle velocity.
There is also a video at the above link. Hit it as well to see the full report.
Here’s another video and write up from Baseball Beginnings on Ehrlich:
Adam Ehrlich is a guy who can catch all day long and make it look easy. I’ve seen him quite a bit over the past year and he’s one of the rare defenders who can make it look easy and graceful.
And once more from Baseball Beginnings:
With that said, Adam Ehrlich threw very well, and he’s a small school player I think really helped himself here. He had the best arm in his group. I really wanted to go with the 5, but I went with the 4 because he threw on top of the plate and his throws slightly decelerated. (Don’t send me a nasty email; I like the kid.) He’s still arguably the best pure senior receiver in Southern California HS baseball this spring, Campbell Hall or not.

Is he signable?
Baseball Beginnings likes his hind-quarters, and his “supple and strong hands.”
If Baseball Beginnings were my wife, I would be worried.
This guy sounds better than our 4th and 5th rounders. I too wonder if there’s a signability concern.
Doesn’t sound like he’s projected as an impact bat. In a year that’s really deep at C, you have to imagine a lot of the clubs looking for a serious C prospect have already got one. I wonder if he just fell because of that.
Sounds a bit like Cody Stanley, albeit a couple of years younger, which will be nice if/when he signs and gets to QC next year (with a solid short season stint in 2011). A 19 year-old who looks like he’ll stick at catcher in A-ball is probably a nicer piece than a 22-year old (although I do quite like Stanley. Bit disappointed he seems to have lost PT to Stock this year).
The difference between his hitting stroke in a couple of those vids is noticeable, although in the “bad” example it looks like he’s been fooled on a breaking ball so it’s kinda hard to tell. Looks a lot more compact in the batting cage one, though, with a less obvious loading phase (for all I know about hitting mechanics, which is pretty much nada).
ive watched over 10 of his games and he does have a good bat he will be good behind and at the plate looking forward to watch him play
This years Stanley or Bryan Anderson. Cards invest in up the middle positions.

Uhrlich has this weird C he does before his swing. I looked up his stats and they are actually pretty good. Not sure the level of competition but here ya go.
.566 97 76 31 43 49 12 5 5
He hit .566 with 31 runs 43 hits in 76 at bats, he had 12 doubles 5 triples 5 home runs and 49 rbis.
Adam, whatever it is that you’re doing, keep doing it. Keep working, don’t stop. See you in the Bigs. Oh yeah Adam, ingore the HATERS!!! LOL! Kathy OMG!
Ehrlich is signed. Headed to GCL to start his career.
played against this guy in high school. Hes great behind the dish with good opposite field power. His power numbers would be better expect left field of his home field was a practice football field and about 400 down the line. Pretty sure he is unsignable. LMU!!!
I taught Adam for a few years in elementary school. What the scouting reports don’t tell you is that he is very bright academically, a disciplined student, and his family lived and breathed baseball year round, during the time I knew them. His passion and determination are very strong. I hope he goes far!
