Trout swung at 4 pitches in the whole game one of those swings was the bunt and only one he missed was the full count K. He didn't get blown away and had some solid at bats, It was just a normal game and it didn't show us anything other than some of our fans want to reach for any trivial thing and make them bigger than they really are.

I wouldn't put too much in working 2 full counts really. Miller went 3-0 on him to lead off the game and then came back and K'd him. The Miller v Trout showdown didn't really show us much other than that Millers fastball is legit enough to where the Top Prospect in the minors can't tee off on it. Not saying one is better or not. I thought it was pretty cool knowing that we would have had Trout had Miller not fell to us.

To be fair it wasn't a drag bunt, it was a push bunt because right handed hitters can't by defination drag bunt.

I'm 100% sure its just your bias creeping in, if you or anyone thinks one of the best Leadoff men in the minors bunting for a hit is some type of a surprise then they aren't paying any attention. If a Matt Adams type did it I would agree but when its a major part of the guys game and everyone knows it then not so much.

His other AB's against Miller were he just fine just had poor results which are part of the game of Baseball and attempting to act like he get blown away is disingenuous. He worked 2 full counts of Miller and made outs on them and hit a sharp ball into a DP only his 7th ever so it wasn't like he hit some weak ball and they rolled him up.

That's your bias creeping in, not mine. I never said he needed to trick Miller with something abnormal. I did say that he needed to surprise Miller with a drag bunt to get a hit. His other at bats were fairly pedestrian.

I see what your saying and Martinez "may" be more talented...be his is not ahead of Miller today. It is nice to have this dialogue about 2 extremely high upside pitchers though!

Trout has tons of bunt hits so its just him playing game and it shouldn't be surprising to anyone, that's why he's a career .340 hitter in over 1,000 minor league AB before the age of 20. Whats surprising is how you make it out like he was somehow intimated by Miller and needed to trick him with something abnormal.

Not sure the context of the comment...I'm a huge Miller fan but I'm not sure about his CB being a plus the Cardinals had to reteach it to him last year and then scrapped it again for a more sweeping one not 12-6. The teachability is also in question as he has resisted when the team wanted him to throw more cureveballs and changeups. He's he has great mound presence and competitiveness. I'm as high as anyone on Miller but I think Martinez may be more talented. The one thing I see that Miller has over Martinez is the traditional pitchers frame and more likelyhood to be durable.
