I didn’t see it mentioned previously, but Gast appears to have been promoted to Springfield this past weekend. I assume he’ll get his first start after the all-star break.

Saw Gast in the stands last night charting pitches at the Springfield game.
Curious that Gast gets the callup over Swagerty or Kelly.
Nah Gast started the year at Palm Beach Swagerty didn’t. You have a point regarding Kelly but I read an interview with him and he’s working very hard on throwing the ball inside. Maybe they want him to perfect that before being moved up.
I haven’t quite figured out what Pop Warner sees in Rondon, but he managed to up his ERA to over 9 while giving away a 3 r HR in the top of the ninth for Springfield to lose today.
Adams was 2 for 4 with a couple singles. Still refuses to walk as he ups his BA to .357.
Pop plays the guys the organization gives him, there is no reason Rondon should be in the organization let alone at Double-A he has around a .300 batting average against in his career with wildness and using him in that hitters year in Springfield is just asking for something bad to happen.
After today’s game Hammons Field is up to 2.93 HR per game this year. We make a big deal out of places like the Great American Ball Park spiking the Reds offense last year but it was only at 2.27 HR combined per game last year at that park!
Nobody forces Pop to use Rondon as a closer in a 2 run game.
Actually they do. He has the roster they gave him and the other guys with futures work the roles they are slated for at the next level and since they don’t have a closer right after Mulligan scrubs fill the void. If it was about winning games in the minor leagues then Freeman would close for the S-Cards.
Also, I’m pretty sure it was PJ who pitched first game for Memphis.
