I endeavored to write today’s post about the July 2nd International free agent market and the Cardinals involvement therein, however, upon doing research for which players the Cardinals were linked to, I came up empty. So, either the Cardinals are not linked to any of the bigger names this year or they are keeping it very close to the vest. Both are very possibly true. If you consider the MLB draft to be random and a crap shoot, the Dominican recruiting process makes the draft seem as straightforward as a graduation ceremony where all the graduates are actually able to line up in alphabetical order.
The moral of the story is that we will know who the Cardinals will sign when they are signed. Any speculation beforehand is like tossing darts at a dartboard after a few Franklins. So, while we wait to see who the Cardinals sign (if anyone) over the next week or so, here is the list of the top 17 prospects and scouting reports, photos and videos from dplbaseball.com.

I was actually doing the same research yesterday and I came up with one name: SS Wilmer Becerra. I found this on mlbtraderumors.com and their source is Ben Badler. Here is the link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/06/badler-examines-july-2-class.html
In another article at BA, Badler says the Cards are linked to a Venezuelan catcher named Jose Godoy.

Thanks BigRob and Lou. Great finds.
Badler said tonight on Twitter he’s got another team in on Becerra.
