As has been hinted for a few weeks, the Cardinals today officially signed 3rd rounder CJ McElroy and assigned him to the GCL Cardinals to start his career.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Excellent news! glad it didnt take all the way to the deadline, get some more experience in the minors this way. If he can develop his bat, his speed both on the bases and in the field could really make him an impact player. Welcome to the Cardinals CJ!
How much did it cost us? Hope we didn’t over pay. We need the cash for the big boy.
The big guy?
I would assume he is referring to Tilson. And not in the sense of size, but more of how much it will take to get him signed.
I’ll bet he is referring to Pujols…
$510K.

C.J has a lot of similarities to Daryl Jones coming out of high school.
That makes me feel warm and fuzzy :)
P-D now reporting $510,000 to mcelroy.
Money for the guy that will get a statue of himself out side Busch if he is reasonable. El Hombre AKA Alberto.
Trust me, C.J. McElroy’s half mil signing bonus will not have an impact on Albert’s 250 million + payday. McElroy’s signing bonus literally doesn’t exist compared to that.
When is the deadline to sign the 2011 Draftees? What is your thoughts on who else the Cardinals will sign? What are the chances that the Cardinals sign Charles Tilson, Aramis Garcia, Brett Graves, or David Schmidt? Since the Cardinals don’t like to over pay for left handed bullpen help, will they be able to sign any of the remaining left handed pitchers that they have drafted? Your opinions are important, I will be checking back for replys. Thank you!
Deadline is August 15th. Things have been quite but I take that as a good sign for Tilson, bad sign for the down draft high bonus guys.
Agreed – Tilson is a sure overslot sign for us (probably double or more of slot). Graves and Schmidt are both local HS products but its been stated Schmidt is going to Stanford but there is still hope on Graves. Would be a good late Rd signing. Garcia is the guy I am quite excited about and haven’t heard a peep on him. We should know a lot more in a week and a day though!
iirc, graves is going to school and not signing. it was a throw-in at the end of an article by goold. goold also tweeted something to the effect that tilson was just a matter of time.
Thx for the update – must have missed that. I have heard from multiple sources that Tilson is just a matter of time because of how much overslot he will get. I don’t think we need to worry about if he will sign.

down at the bottom under “mizzou beats cardinals.”
Thx for the article. Kind of a bummer we drafted 2 local pitchers and can’t get either signed.
Thanks for the info. I enjoyed reading the discussions from everyone. I am excited about the potential of Garcia as well and I was hoping the Cardinals could persuade Graves to sign as well. But if he does well in college he will sign for a lot more money. I am also hopeful that the Cardinals sign some of those young lefthanders. You can never have to many left handers. Thanks Again.
