The farm put up a winning record of 5-2 on the night. Miller and Martinez were both good in each players first game since apearing in the Futures Game. Martinez was a hard luck loser. There are a lot of games to get to so let’s get to it.
Archive for July, 2011The Cardinals seem set on making some kind of upgrade at the trade deadline. The two obvious areas of interest would be the rotation and the bullpen. Despite the rather weak cast of characters that make up the Cardinals’ middle infield, there are a lot of them and several of them are well regarded (rightly or wrongly) by the coaching staff. Who the Cardinals would target in a trade is anyone’s guess at this point but it seems likely, given the composition of the Cardinals current roster and minors, that the player traded will be a outfielder (Colby Rasmus, Jon Jay, Allen Craig). The Cardinals have a handful of these types of players that other teams my covet to fill in offensive holes. If the Cardinals move an outfielder, what internal options will they have to replace them. Miller & Rosenthal get starts tonight. Memphis will play a double header. Lots of offense on the farm tonight. On to the DFR! Sorry for the late post today, totally my fault. I’ll try to keep these at a minimum to keep from turning into the red baron of Future Redbirds. (hi Baron!) Just wanted to do a quick post on park factors. Memphis and Springfield off for the night, the rest of the farm had it’s lone win come thanks to the Riverbandits. In which the Cardinals newest prized prospect had himself an offensive day. On to the DFR! Daryl Jones is back in Springfield as a 24 year old, 3 years after his breakout season there in 2008 as a 21 year old. What’s eating the DJ? Let’s take a look inside the numbers. The farm had a perfect night, while one top prospect continued to mash. Check out the details below! Quad Cities has seen several very interesting pitchers pass through it’s starting rotation this season. From Carlos Martinez to Jordan Swagerty to current starter Trevor Rosenthal, they’ve had a plethora of high octane arms throwing gas and striking out batters. One of the undersung additions to that rotation has been Boone Whiting. |
