I’m happy to pass along a really well written and comprehensive scouting report about the Cardinals 6th round pick from the 2011 draft, Adam Ehrlich. He’s currently playing for the Gulf Coast League Cardinals where’s he’s compiled an OPS over .800 in limited at bats.

A couple of house keeping items to start off:

  1. If you don’t already read Derrick Goold’s Five Tool Friday series, which has a minor league bent, shame on you. If you do read it, you may have noticed that I slipped in a guest appearance during the last one.
  2. It looks like I’ll be traveling to the Quad Cities the last weekend of this month (July 29-31st) as bgh and I storm the town (read: geek out for a weekend and watch some minor league games).

There is a lot to get to today. Two Cardinals appeared in the futures game and the farm played seven games on the night with Palm Beach participating in a double header. The teams put up a record of 4-3 on the night.

One of the Cardinals top pitching prospects makes his AA debut.  Also, at 5pm Central Time today, you can watch the Minor League Futures Game on ESPN2 including the Cardinals own Shelby Miller and Carlos Martinez.  We’ll have an open thread here for anyone looking for a place to discuss the game.
