WOW, Cleto, Miller, Rosy and Jenkins makes me feel tingly (is that how you’d spell that word) inside…….

    • BigRob says:

You could argue that there is reason to get excited about ALL of these starters. Should be a very interesting night for the farm!

      • JC says:

Agreed – Hernandez is my diamond in the rough. Love that pick in the draft a few yrs back.

      • Felonius_Monk says:

I have no idea who Todd McInnis is, but other than that. yeah. I guess you can make an argument for all these guys in our top 30 prospects or so.

        • easy says:

I had to look McInnis up too. Looks like he’s another one of our low level “soft tossers” from his strikeout rate but he’s doing well. 1.76 E.R.A and a .90 whip. He’s listed at 6’1″ and, cough, 140 lbs.

          • McInnis may be a sleeper. Sure getting a lot of k’s for his size.

          • Aaron says:

McInnis isn’t really a soft-tosser. He sits in the 91-93 range with his fastball now, and obviously the hope is he could project a little stronger considering how much room he has to add weight on his frame. Personally I doubt he adds much velocity, but he should get stronger overall. At least, you would hope so.

  2. Andrew says:

This may be the best night of pitching in a long time in our minor league system.

  3. CardFanJoker says:

Siegrist has a sub 2.00 ERA this year …. where’s the love for him?

    • RCHIII says:

I think he is cut from the same cloth as Copeland. Very solid pitcher, but questions will remain due to lower velocity. As he moves up, those questions will be answered.

      • Andrew says:

Towards the end of his time at Quad Cities the coaching staff reported that he was throwing 95. Not sure what caused the bump in MPH but I wouldn’t call him a soft tosser anymore.

        • bc says:

You mean 85mph for Siegrist? I’d be interested to see any scouting reports that showed Siegrist to have a fastball above the high eighties.

    • Clark says:

Siegrist’s control problems stifle the excitement for him

  4. RCHIII says:

Believe Rosenthal may go back to developing his change up tonight – probably won’t be in mow down mode – so solid line will be a bonus.

    • cariocacardinal says:

If he sets up properly with his fastball, no reason for the strikeouts to go down.

      • RCHIII says:

Strikeouts may not go down, but hits sure can go up…..he obviously doesn’t have any issues with his fastball. Change needs less speed and more bite, so working on it can occasionally cause whiplash :)

awesome night for cardinal pitching prospects..this minor league season has really helped with the extremely inconsistent big league team this year

  6. Bob says:

Andrew: was it Siegrist who was reportedly topping out at 95? I’ve never actually heard any velocity reports on the young man, but any lefty having his level of success, who even cracks 90/91 sounds like a legit prospect to me.

Gotta love the starting pitching depth right now….

This is a great nite for the system. I am excited by this pitching line up, the future looks bright…

  8. cariocacardinal says:

Here is an article saying that Miller has been ordered to use more secondary pitches starting tonight.

Seth Maness and McInnis were the starters for double header in Batavia tonight.
