Who will be the September calls up? Miller/Martinez/Marte/Valdes/Dickson/Cleto/Greene/Kozma/Hamiliton/Stavi/Carpenter/Anderson/Fick/Robinson/Ottovino/
Or are we going to go out and sign a 41 year old retread that is washed up, way would we want another club dirty laundry.
If I’m picking from that list (and there’s no reason to think I’d be picking from some other list), I’d venture to guess Valdes, Greene, and Kozma are probably locks. Probably Hamilton too. Possibly Chambers too. Stav isn’t on the 40 man (he’d have to be added, right?). Same with Robinson.
Other than that, I doubt much else. LaRussa doesn’t seem to just fill up the dugout come September as much as I kind of wish he would.
Miller and Martinez, no way in hell either gets called up.
Possibly Anderson, but with Cruz being the 3rd catcher already on the team, I’m not sure.
And now that i’m thinking of it, Carpenter might get another shot.
Ultimately, I don’t know. But, I do know I just made a mess of this.
Why would Kozma be a lock? Even if Punto’s not coming back (which I hope he is).
Valdez? A lefty who can’t get out lefties is far from a lock as well.
I dont consider either of those locks to even be on the 40 man roster this Winter.
I’m talking about September. Valdes is just another lefty. He’ll be called up. And Kozma, just like Valdes, is on the 40-man roster.
They’re available and they fill backup roles. I mean no September call-up is going to save the season. They lend an extra glove or bat or arm. Nothing else.
And while I agree that Valdes will be gone next year, I doubt Kozma will.
Your right who knows what management will do. The bullpen in memphis has been good all year and all i here is they want to go out and bring in a 40 year old lefty.

I was hoping that Additon would be pitching. I was just writing a document and had a typo (Additonally instead of Additionally). My Cardinal-geek first response was that “Additonally” would be “left handed and involving smoke & mirrors.” I usually try to stay on topic, but I thought y’all might enjoy this.
