As we move towards wrapping up the minor league season, Matt Adams and Starlin Rodriguez push to end excellent seasons on a high note. The farm went 3-3 on a night when Palm Beach played a double header, Quad Cities was cancelled and Johnson City won game one of the three game Appalachian League championship series.

Hopefully Johnson City can lock it up in game 2.

Not a Cardinals prospect, but has anyone looked at the fangraphs page for Edwin Carl, a RHP for the Royals system. He just turned 23, and is old for his Rookie League placement, but his fangraphs page is something to just stare in awe at. 19.36 K/9 ratio. More interestingly, his FIP is below 0 at -0.74, which is something I have seen before. The guy is just a RH relief prospect and old for his age, but he does have some of the most interesting stats I have ever seen.

Neal Pritchard, a 22-year-old infielder, got the walk-off hit for JC:

I’m beginning to wonder if Valera is the prospect to watch. He’s just 19, in his second pro season, and he’s both leading off and leading the team in the playoffs. He started the game-winning rally in the 9th with a triple. He’s been playing LF the past week or so, presumably so the older guys, Rahmatulla and Williams, can play second and short. I just hope it’s not because his defense is a liability.

It’ll be instructive to see where he’s placed to start next season. You have to think Starlin Rodriguez and Greg Garcia are locks for AA, with Wong starting at PB. But then it gets interesting with Rahmatulla and Valera. Do they both start at QC, splitting time at second and DH?

    Justin Wright cannot be stopped.

A crazy game in Johnson City, as JC outhit Bluefield 12-2 but it took 2 bottom of the ninth runs for them to pull back from a 3-2 deficit. Bluefield scored all 3 of their runs in the top of the 1st.

I listened to the Johnson City, Bluefield game. Worst audio I’ve ever heard.

Its about time we had some 2nd base/inf prospects in the system…

I hope this is Carlos’ last start of the year. He’s toast.

  8. Hugecardsfan says:

The JC team is 3 outs away from winning the championship 2 years running. Leading 4-1. Have held Bluefield to 1 hit after 8.

    Is today jenkins’ start?

  10. Hugecardsfan says:

    Gillung (W, 1-0) 6.0 1 1 1 2 6 0 1.50
    Billbrough (S, 1) 3.0 0 0 0 0 4 0 2.25
