Quad Cities continued their late game heroics to pull out victory in game 1. Details are as follow.

On to the DFR!Quad Cities 4, Lansing 2

  • A leadoff double in the 2nd, followed by a sac bunt and RBI single got Lansing on the board vs Boone Whiting.  Back to back singles followed by back to back walks pushed the 2nd and final run across against Whiting. He went 5 innings with 5 ks.
  •  Drew Benes picked up the win with 2 IP.  He gave up 2 H.
  • Aiden Lucas struckout all 3 batters he faced in the 8th for a hold.
  • Dean Kiekhefer got two quick outs in the 9th before a single and double pushed the game to the brink.  He was able to get the final batter to fly out to record the save.
  • Nick Longmire picked up a single in the 7th.  After Longmire, Colin Walsh doubled for his only hit, while Geoffrey Klein’s sac fly brought Longmire home. Klein also had a hit and walk.
  • Ronny Gil reached on a throwing error and Oscar Taveras (be still my beating heart) blasted a 2-run go ahead HR in the 8th to give Quad Cities their tally.
  • Johnathan Rodriguez went 2-for-4 including a single in the 8th.  Longmire would drive him in with a double, completing his 2-for-4 day

    Yes, Johny has no issue with benching him when his attention strays.
