We’ll return to our daily updates now that I’m back in St. Louis.

Peoria 13, Mesa 3

  • Oscar Taveras was 2-for-4.
  • Tyler Lyons went 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 3 ER. He struck out 5.  I’ve been pleasantly surprised with his AFL preformance. He has a 4:1 K:BB ratio with a strikeout an inning. It will be interesting to see if he gets a shot at being a starter in Springfield to begin the 2012 season.
  • Justin Wright walked 2 in a scoreless inning.

All but one of Lyons starts have been reasonably good. The other one severely skews his stats as he gave up 7 runs in less than three innings. He also gave up 4 of his 6 walks and 2 of his 4 homers in that one.
Considering his good finish this year and his relative lack of pro experience he’s getting more and more interesting.

Any idea of what kind of stuff he has?
    Thanks

I would make a comparison with Addition.
Lefty with 89,90+ velo and pretty accurate secondary stuff.

Take into consideration that this is an opportunity to work on stuff you want to bring to your game, he did well.

In 8.1 innings against LHB, Lyons has a 14k/0bb ratio, 3.00 GO/AO ratio, and has given up 4 hits.

In 16.1 innings against RHB, he has given up 20 hits and 14 runs, and has a 12k/6bb ratio.

    Those are pretty striking splits.

  4. Andrew says:

I’ve heard that Lyons has much better stuff than Addition. Lyons is up to about 92-93 after having an arm injury early in the year.
