Postive outing by Tyler Lyons after getting rocked abotu a week ago.

Also another good outing by Seth Blair.

  2. illinoiscardinalfan says:

Blair has not given up many hits the last two outings, keeping his whip down. Still hate to see that many walks but after how horrible he was last year this spring looks like a big improvement.

  3. Andrew says:

He looked 100 times better in his 2 appearances that I saw this Spring. Even when he missed he missed low or slightly off the corners and wasn’t overly wild.

  4. VolsnCards5 says:

I still wouldn’t say Blair had a “good” outing….better, yes, but still not good

  5. Andrew says:

Sure it was good, Any outing where his pitches aren’t getting rocked is good in my book. The previous 2 outings that I saw this Spring he wasn’t missing wildly he was just off the plate or just low and sometimes his breaking pitch fooled the ump. I’m not worried about the walks at this point when I’ve seen how far he’s come since I saw him last year.

  6. BigJawnMize says:

It looks like Cody Stanely is putting together a decent spring. Having seen him a couple times he has a chance at being a solid backstop in the show, just needs to hit enough to make it.

  7. cariocacardinal says:

I don’t think anyone has mentioned all Spring one of our top performing prospects in camp this year – Victor Marte. Still with the big league club even. And yes, he meets the definition of a prospect and he is even eligible for rookie of the year.

    • RCHIII says:

31 year old rookies are definitely rare. What is the cut-off to not be a rookie anymore? 40 appearances? He has 30 MLB appearances over 2009 and 2010. Marte has pitched well, but I have a feeling that Linebrink will get the nod.

      • Zach says:

I agree, I think Linebrink at this point is a lock to make the team. Marte has impressed though and I think he would be #2 in line in case of injury, behind Sanchez

  8. arredbird says:

Good to see OF Reggie Williams in a game, though he
will be suspended for the first 50 games of the season.

  9. VolsnCards5 says:

    3 walks in 4 innings is not good…it’s ok…its meh…but at least it’s better

  10. hugecardsfan says:

That depends on what he’s trying to accomplish. He’s reworking his mechanics and dealing with his confidence. To go 4 innings and give up zero runs is good. It’s the goal. When the goal is to walk no one then have 3 BB’s is a problem. Blair probably isn’t there yet. His goal is to keep the ball around the K zone and not allow the hitters to knock him around. Goal accomplished.

    • Andrew says:

Most likely he’s working on mechanics and getting his arm slot the same in the fastball and the curveball. The walks aren’t an issue this early in Spring. His stuff still looks good and he’s getting his confidence back.

A releiver to make the team at an adavanced age…Kiko Colero anyone?

  12. VolsnCards5 says:

Ok do it was a successful outing…still wasnt good

  13. The DL says:

Off topic, but I just saw DJ Tools get burned playing center for the Reds. I wish him & Ludwick well in Cincy, though.
