    Awesome, Todd McInnis!!

      heh…

yeah, I was going to mention that “if only Gaviglio were pitching for the QC today…” but I honestly don’t know enough about McInnis to poo poo his start in that way.

      • Franklin says:

Ha, definitely not meant as a slight to McInnis, but the other three are just on another level right now. I’m waiting for a day like this when Jenkins is on the mound for QC.

Between 2010-11 drafts the Cardinals have drafted players like Gaviglio, Whiting, Bibona, and Maness; high character pitchers with a good feel and excellent control, but lacking in the velocity department. Is this type of player common amongst other teams, or are the Cardinals loading up on them in hopes of a Rosenthal-like boost in velocity?

More like you can’t draft the other types of guys in the later rounds. Gaviglio was a 5th round, Whiting ws an 18th round, Bibona – 8th roung.

Must of the hard throwing guys are gone early. Teamis have plent more of these types of pitchers.

          • Franklin says:

That makes sense. I guess I assumed there were still more projectable arms without results available in the later rounds of the draft.

Jenkins was scratched from his start due to a right bicep issue.

          • Franklin says:

Any idea if it’s cause for concern. I see his manager said he’s going to make the Tuesday night start, so apparently not too serious.

Pretty stout pitching lineup for the day.
