Good to see Jackson having a good season offensively so far. If he can hit consistently because he is a really good defender at SS he will get a starting knod.

you are right if we did not trade for Holiday and signed him we would lost a draft pick. then we would still have Wallace,peterson,moertenson and holiday The fact is Tony wanted a lot did not always get it.

That was better than a B. As so often, we got Luddy’s career year. He hasn’t been the same hitter since the trade.

As for Perez/The Rose, keep in mind that Perez may be Cleveland’s closer, but he hasn’t exactly set the world on fire there. I got to see him last week in Cleveland (wife and I are touring all 30 MLB parks). I’d rather have Motte.

According to B-P, QC currently has the second oldest roster in the Midwest League. It’s not far on the wrong side of average — 21.9 vs. 21.5 — but it’s still on the wrong side. (Milwaukee’s A team is older, if anyone is interested.)

To clarify I meant that if we had signed Holliday as Type A free agent from another team we would have lost the pick that turned into Cox.

I was essentially saying an added bonus of the Holliday trade was having the luxury of re-signing him as one or our free agents and not having to pay the penalty that goes with signing a player on the open market.

You’re right we don’t know if we would’ve signed Holliday, the only reason I treated him differently than Furcal or Westrook, is that A) Tony openly pined for him and B) they were willing to make him the highest paid free agent that offseason and the highest paid Cardinal of all time. That is still in the realm of the hypothetical though.

And I know Cox was our regular pick, but had we signed Holliday as a Type A free agent wouldn’t we have lost the pick that turned into Cox?

I based my grading on what the player has done with the cards.holiday in 4 th season with us. Cox was our regular draft choice. You do not know if the cards would have signed him if he did not play 1/2 a season with us. same situation for westbrook,furcal

Why would we have surrendered a draft pick that turned out to be Cox if we had not signed Holliday? we would have received at least one extra pick had we not signed him.
