Couple promising lefties going tonight.
Lyons, and Siegrist are both LOOGY options down the road. But yes they are promising.
The reference was to Hernandez, not Siegerist. Hernandez is arguably the Cardinals best left handed pitching prospect behind Gast.
Siegrist has pitched VERY well in his Cardinals career.
I’m betting that Siegrist is the upside surprise southpaw in this organization.
Hector Hernandez
Don’t need to put them in LOOGY category yet.
Ha! I assumed the reference was to Hernandez and Siegrist.
My understanding was that Siegrist had picked up some velocity over the past couple of years, and in Spring Training was regularly in the 91/92 range, which is MLB-quality for a southpaw.
I saw Siegrist when I was at Spring Training and was very impressed with his poise and control and thought he could become a very good lefthanded reliever.
While talking about lefties, if Gast can’t make it as a starter, wouldn’t his great pickoff motion be very helpful coming into a game to face a left handed batter with a runner on first?
