Apparently now some talk that the Cubs are zeroing in on Albert Almora. Now the talk seem to be this as the top six.

1.HOU – SP Mark Appel/OF Byron Buxton
2.MIN – OF Byron Buxton/SP Mark Appel
3.SEA – SS Carlos Correa/C Mike Zunino
4.BAL – SP Kevin Gausman
5.KC – SP Lance McCullers Jr.
6.CHI – OF Albert Almora

Now if you believe the Giolito/Padres pre-draft deal, that means Zimmer falls into the arms of Pittsburgh.

It definitely doesn’t sit in the mid 90s. From everything I’ve heard, he sits 91-93 but he can tough 95 which would presumably be in a limited situation like in relief.

Basically all of these scenarios are exciting, and as long as they don’t take a college bat in the first round (I’m looking at you Richie Schaeffer), I am pretty much delighted by these mocks. I live in Chapel Hill and have seen Stroman–he’s filthy.

One college bat I WOULD be interested in in the supplemental round is Victor Roache. Pre-season people were talking about him going in the top 5, but he broke something on his arm (wrist maybe?) and his stock plummeted. If he’s OK, I’d be stoked to get him later on.

I’d love to get one HS arm and one HS bat. Smoral at 19 and Trahan at 23.

Also, anyone want to speculate on a projected early-to-mid 1st rounder that may drop to us? Perhaps I am misremembering, but I feel like we snagged Wallace, Cox, and Miller all a bit after they were projected.

I for one would love to see Hawkins or especially Almora fall to us.

Addison Russell, SS, Pace (Fla.) H.S.

Russell is one of the best athletes in the draft with a real chance to stick at short. St. Louis is on most of the same names as Toronto, with more emphasis on bats. (Those names were Smoral, Cecchini, Dahl, prep catcher Stryker Trahan, Giolito, and McCullers)

23. St. Louis Cardinals
Marcus Stroman, RHP, Duke

I haven’t heard him strongly connected to too many teams, even though everyone raves about his stuff. In addition to the bats from pick No. 19, they’re linked to prep lefty Hunter Virant here.

No…I have seen Stratton pitch in person. His slider is much better than Loshe breaking pitches.

This guys is a great athlete that just put it together pitching wise. If he can improve his change-up he is a mid-rotation starter. If he cant the fastball slider combo makes him a good bullpen arm. The question is if 19 is a good spot for that kind of pitcher.
