Ryan Jackson flashed a touch of the power he occasionally showed in AA, and Springfield scores a bunch of runs without the help of Oscar Taveras as the system goes 2-2
- The Memphis offense walked all over a rehabbing Jonathan Sanchez, tagging him for six runs in 2.2 innings.
- Ryan Jackson had an excellent night, going 3-5 with his third home run.
- Mark Hamilton hit his fourth home run.
- Cedric Hunter had a home run and a pair of walks.
- John Gast picked up the win without impressing, giving up eight hits in 5.2 innings and one strike out to a pair of walks.
- Fernando Salas continued to struggle, giving up a home run to Wil Myers in addition to a double and a pair of singles in the ninth.
Springfield 8, Corpus Christi 3
- Kolten Wong was 2-4, as was Chris Swauger. Wong stole his eighth base.
- Kyle Conley has transitioned reasonably with his move to Springfield. He’s hitting .240/.324/.480 since arriving there. He and Greg Garcia were each 1-3 with a walk.
- Oscar Taveras’ average dips below .300 with a 1-5 game.
- Richard Castillo went 6 innings with 8 hits but only 1 run. He walked two and struck out three.
- Deryk Hooker had a scoreless 1-hit inning with a strikeout.
- Phillies lefty Jessie Biddle destroyed the PB Cardinals tonight, putting up 7.0 innings of 4 hit baseball, with a 12/1 K/BB ratio.
- Mike O’Neill was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
- Chris Edmondson was 2-4.
- Nick Gillung struggled with his control early, walking five batters, but only gave up three runs in his six innings.
- Iden Nazario threw the other two innings perfectly, striking out three.
- The starters A.J. Cole and Jonathan Cornelius were pushed out due to a rain delay in the first inning.
- Nick Martini was 2-4.
- Juan Castillo was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
- Robert Stock threw three innings, striking out two, walking one and giving up a solo shot.
- Danny Miranda‘s line was identical, except he gave up a two run shot and took the loss.
- Bob Revesz threw a couple scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

Gast may not have “impressed,” but still, this is a guy who was in high A for half of last year and is now pitching in one of the nastier hitting leagues in the minors. I think he’s doing just fine. (Inexplicably, he allowed a stolen base, though.)
As for Salas, the story about his kidney stone leaves me just shaking my head in wonderment at the guy.
I think they should sit Salas for a week.

I’d still like to seem him in the BP as a LOOGY in the future but he is proving he can be an effective starter. That changeup he added has really improved his arsenal.
It’s customary for teams not to give out info about a player unless on the DL. Once they found out it could have been days or a day for him passing it, so I can see why not placed on the DL.
Jackson is having a pretty good sneaky season. Not really getting talked about a ton. Still is improved offensively. I’d like to see those power numbers improve.
