Perry played baseball in high school, but not at UNC-Wilmington.
He took up baseball again after transferring to Methodist, an NCAA Division III school. He focused on pitching as a senior and dominated, with the highest K rate in Division III.
The Cards must scout North Carolina, in this draft selecting Cooney (Wake Forest); Perry (Methodist); McPherson (Wingate); and Swin (Elon).
Those strikeout numbers are gaudy but I wish I knew what type of stuff he has.
132 Strikeouts over 23 walks. I would like to see his strikeout/walk ratio he must have pretty good control of his pitches. Look like a pretty durable starting he pitched 4 CG and over 92 IP for his team lead his club with innings. .207 Batting average against is pretty good.
Perry did play baseball at UNCW but he played on the club team.
