I agree, it’s not so much the springfield coach but that these guys have been pitching well before they came.
I noticed that when there is an issue, the pitcher goes back to work with Martinez ( ex. Rondon). Castillo, in my opinion. is the pitcher he is for growing up with Martinez.

This is why they would never send Shelby back there, he’s better off working his issues out with the better pcoach in AAA. Perhaps this is why Shelby didn’t progress last year.

I think both Maness and Castillo were doing great at PB an got promoted. Rosenthal had a pretty good ST. I’m not dissing Springfield’s pitching coach, but all three were pitching pretty well before they got there.

Castillo, Maness, Rosenthal. Last year, Miller and Additon. And maybe I’m forgetting a guy or two.

Point being, is there a pitching instructor who’s been at Springfield the last couple of years, who’s having a seriously salutary effect on the starters there?

Yep, Castillo and Maness are killing it. There some guys on that team going for Ring 3 in 3 years. Now that Mo seemed to indicate he is planning on keeping Rosenthal, OT and Wong together for the year in Springfield, I think that 3rd ring is looking very possible.

Rosie has been throwing the ball well of late. But I would like him to polish up his command a little he is walking over 4.50 BB/9. But with a 1.15 WHIP that doesn’t matter and a .234 BABIP and opponents are hitting .174 against him. So IMO he is almost ready for a Memphis call up.

Going to the Springfield game. Glad it’s Rosenthal day, although most of the SCards starters are doing interesting things these days.
