Young had 26 stolen bases and 9 home runs in 40 games, both numbers led the team. The stolen bases number led the conference.

After completing his second year at Compton College to conclude 2010-11, Young was drafted by the Tampa Devil Rays in the 14th round of the 2011 MLB draft, but deferred his professional career to play baseball while furthering his education at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
“Matt has great work ethic and will not cheat himself or the organization. If he stays healthy, he could play this game at a very high level for a long time, ” concluded [head coach] Su’a.
