Ground ball pitchers tonight pitching. Gast with a 1.18 GO/AO Ratio. Castillo 1.69 GO/AO ratio.

Gast is not a ground ball pitcher particularly. He is very near (actually slightly below this year) the league average ground ball rate. Castillo has not historically been a great ground ball pitcher. he had below avg ground ball rates last year but this year he was above average at Palm Beach and is way above average at Springfield. Seems like Castillo has changed something in his repertoire to become much more of a ground ball pitcher this year.

Hopefully John Gast get a bit more run support than he did in his last start.

Almost 3x slot value….we might night sign Williams after all

      Still, great news!

I still think we will. I don’t think he’ll expect more than about 500-600K… But, I could be wrong.

      • Felonius_Monk says:

I didn’t think Kelly would sign for much less than $1.5k, so I think they did pretty well here. Thought he was asking for 2, so they probably struck a fair deal for both parties.

Even though I like Foody, in a way, I’d have preferred them to wait that one out. The extra $300k they gave him over slot ($400k) could’ve gone to try to sign Williams, then I bet they could’ve offered him over $1m. Then Foody’s your back-up plan, or can sign if Williams is cheaper than expected.

But, still, good news all round.

If we just assume the draft order went Wacha, Kelly, Piscotty, Bean, Ramsey on day 1 then Foody and Wisdom on day 2, it seems like a pretty strong draft.
