Sorry this is ugly but I am not sure what to do about it. Hang in there until we find an aesthetically pleasing fix to the site issue.
The system went 2-and-1 on the night. John Gast pitched well for a Memphis team that featured two players making rehab appearances on their way back to the parent club. Palm Beach’s game was canceled. Quad Cities came from behind for the 2nd day in a row to beat Kane County. Details after the jump…
- Skip Schumaker was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 2 walks, and a stolen base.
- Eugenio Velez was 2-for-4 with a double.
- Lou Montanez was 1-for-2 with 2 walks.
- Jamie Romak was 1-for-4 with a triple.
- Bryan Anderson singled.
- Matt Carpenter and Ryan Jackson each walked once.
- Zack Cox was 0-for-4 with 2 strikeouts.
- John Gast had a strong outing. He went 6.2 innings and only allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. That’s his second straight game with having as many strikeouts as innings pitched, something atypical of him in the past.
- Chuckie Fick got one out.
- Barret Browning and Adam Reifer combined for 2 perfect innings. Reifer had a strikeout and save (2nd of season).
- Xavier Scruggs was 2-for-3 with a HR (10th of season) and walk.
- Greg Garcia was 1-for-4 with a double.
- Jose Garcia had a double and a walk.
- Audry Perez was 2-for-4.
- Kolten Wong, Oscar Taveras, Kyle Conley, and Jake Shaffer each singled.
- True to form, Richard Castillo got more groundball outs (8) than flyball outs (5), but he gave up 4 runs (3 earned) in 6 innings that included 7 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
- Deryk Hooker pitched a perfect inning.
- Eric Fornataro pitched 2 scoreless innings in relief. He allowed 3 hits, 1 walk, and 1 strikeout.
Palm Beach: Canceled
- Colin Walsh was 2-for-4 with a triple.
- Luis Mateo and David Medina had doubles. Medina also walked.
- Nick Martini drew 3 walks. Neal Pritchard had 1 walk.
- Virgil Hill singled.
- Jonathan Cornelius allowed 3 runs in 6 innings, but only 1 was earned. He struck out 6 against 4 hits and 2 walks.
- Bob Revesz allowed a walk in 2 innings.
- Heath Wyatt was credited with the save (9th of season); he struck out 1 in an inning of work.

Taveras had an assist off of the 3rd hit given up by Fornataro (top of 9th), throwing a guy out at home.
Big deal; Anthony Garcia gunned down his third runner in the last week. ;)
Actually, nice catch, T-Bird. I hadn’t noticed the “baserunner kill” by Taveras.
Apart of OT tool box is his plus arm in CF…
Tweet from B.J. Rains “Hearing Stephen Piscotty, OF from Stanford who the Cardinals took in the supplemental first round, will be here tomorrow for a physical.”
“Also hearing that a deal for Piscotty, which is contingent on the physical, will be right around the suggested $1.43 million for his spot.”
Awesome news. Now we can start signing the players who will command under the slot value to go after Trey Williams.
Azruavatar, I’m assuming you made this post look better after you fixed some of the functionality of the site. Thanks, man.
