Martinez is on a pitch count he threw 56 pitches 39 for strikes according to reports he was sating 95-98 topped 99-100. Anyway last season he got a workload for the first time in his career now that need to take it easy with him before his control and command go to waste like it did late last season.

Watch a few of hit outings he was clocked around 90-92 MPH topped 93 on his 4-Seamer has some good movement. He has a pretty good breaking ball as well he showed he could locate it inside to a LH Batter so it’s an out pitch for him. He’s has an explosive delivery to the plate mainly pitches out of the windup. Another guy to keep an eye on out of the Springfield pen.

You say promising I say impressive. DeLeon gave up 1 run over 5 innings while they relief corps gave up 8 in the remaining 4. It’s not like the opposing team just couldn’t hit because as we saw the second half of the game they could. And I would consider it impressive when it’s his first JC starter and last year in GCL he was 0-6 with a 5.7 ERA.

I believe the official diagnosis was shoulder tendinitis, which kept him out for about a month. With shoulder injuries being so scary and him being a smaller guy, I imagine they will continue to proceed with caution for a little while.

Shoulder soreness/fatigue. Moved up from High A to AA while he rested his shoulder, worked on mechanics.

Did I miss something with Benes? Is he piggy-backing now? Didn’t he throw a CG earlier this year? Are they trying to limit his innings? Can I think of another question to ask?

I was excited to see Sam T. go deep. What is the deal with him as a prospect? I know he has been mentioned as a little disappointing. Does he have too long of a swing or some other hitting flaw? Where does he profile long term defensively? Does he even profile long term at all?
