Is Martinez still on the limited pitch count for tonight?
I feel like he’ll be on a pitch count for the remainder of the season. They’ll probably slowly elevate the amount of pitches he’s allowed to throw, but I see that maxing out around 80 pitches or so.
What did he throw last game? 46? Something like that. They may allow him to go to 55 or so tonight.
Martinez did throw 46 pitches in his last start. It was reported that his FB was sitting 96-98 topping 99-101 that’s good to hear. I’d say they may let him throw 60 pitches.
The velocity was very good to hear. Do we know what his actual “limit” was in his last start? I thought I heard 50 pitches somewhere. I’m thinking natural graduation would be about 10 pitches. So somewhere between my 55 and your 60 should be a good estimate. However, I can also see them keeping him at 50 for another start or two, and then bumping him up.
Regardless of his pitch count, I think we can all agree that Carlos Martinez starting games in AA is a good thing. A very good thing.
Limit was 50 pitches or 3 innings whichever came first.
Can’t wait for Bryan Martinez’s turn in the JC rotation.
I used to be very intrigued by Bryan Martinez a couple years ago. He was one of my sleeper prospects. I hope he can continue to show the promise he once had.
Bryan Martinez = shoulder injury = low chance of 100% return to form
Your right but we don’t really know how bad the injury even was. We just know that he never formally pitched in games in the GCL last year. That doesn’t mean he was completely shut down from throwing.
Via Springfield Cardinals beat writer “Now official: Congratulations to RHP Scott Gorgen. Being promoted from Double-A, pitching Thursday night for Triple-A Memphis in Omaha.”
Congratulations, for sure, but at the same time, uh-oh. Wonder what improbable injury or other disaster is awaiting in Memphis? Have I missed something?
Martinez: 3IP, 5H 2ER, 0BB, 0K 5 Groundouts to 2 Flyouts 56 pitches,39 for strikes. Reports say he was sating at 95-98 consistent topped to 99-100 couple of times on his FB.
That is Arkansas stadium gun not the notoriously fast Springfield gun if that means anything.
