Interesting to see how Gorgen fairs in his first Triple A start.
Rosenthal stats this season 14 started 77.0 IP 3.04 ERA 3.54 FIP 4.10 SIERA 41.3% GB Rate down by a couple points from last season but he had a .332 BABIP last season this season down to .257 21.2 K Rate 10.8 BB Rate 1.21 WHIP. Rosie has progressed a lot this season as a pitcher hope he continues to polish up.
Hoping Hector gets back on track today. Talented young lefty, has struggled a lot recently.
Hernandez is certainly a guy to watch but he needs to cut down on his walks 31 in 66 IP he owns a 1.50 WHIP 4.23 BB/9. He has good stuff with a FB that sits in the low 90s range good curve and good change-up but can lose the command of his pitches.
Exactly. I know that he has the stuff. Not many lefties can throw like he can, but he just hasn’t put it together yet. If he can put it together I see a pitcher that has the body and repertoire to be a big league SP.
Oscar Taveras is currently leading the Texas League in BA at .321, ranked 3rd in the league for HRs with 14, and 3rd in the league with 48 RBIs. He is also leading the league in total bases with 158. The two guys ahead of him in RBIs and HRs are Nathan Freiman, who is 26 and not considered a top prospect in the San Diego org, and Mike Olt, who is 24 and is a top prospect in the Texas org. Oscar is 5 years younger and playing a premium defensive position, while putting up video game numbers.
Rosenthal done after only throwing 63 total pitches his line 5.0 IP 2 H 0 ER 0 R 0BB 4 K 4 Groundouts to 6 Flyouts. There limiting Rosenthal’s to give him rest for the 2nd half.
Seems our starting pitchers have had pretty good nights tonight.
Did you guys see in Goold’s column that Sam Tuivalala has been switched to pitching? Looks like his last hit as a position player was a HR. Another Bob Forsch in the making?
Just kidding about the comparison, although some of my favorite baseball memories of the ’80s came watching Forsch. I remember seeing him hit a HR in San Diego (I think it was ’84) in a game the Cards eventually lost. And of course there were the two no-hitters. Anyway, it would be fun to have another pitcher in the STL who can handle a bat.
