Martinez still will be on a pitch count threw 56 pitches in his last start. I’d say he will throw 65-75 in that range.
It’s 95 degrees in Tulsa today. Not sure if they will extend him much. Watching the game now.
He’s only at 34 pitches so far through three innings.
What is he sating at and topping out on his Fastball? Also now has 47 pitches threw 4 scoreless innings 36 for strikes certainly attacking the zone.
He’s pitching great, they have completely revamped his delievry. It’s much more traditional now.
So less violence? Or are you talking about the way he was finishing his delivery?
Yea, before he stepped sideways didn’t get much stride length and slung the ball. Now hes stepping directly back, keeping his glove at his chest, turning the hips and having a longer stride. He’s also not falling off wildly to the side like he did last year most likely as a result of being more lined up and straight to the plate. Essentially, this looks like a standard pitching delivery when in the past it didn’t. I watched much of the game. It was 100 by the 5th and he was definately running out of gas. 2 of the 4 hits were in the final inning.
Positive outing 5 IP 4 H 1 R 5 K. Looked like he ran out of gas in the 5th inning.
Additionally, one of his issues last year was flying open early and telegraphing hte pitch it reallly seems like he’s hiding the ball for longer. He was hitting 95-97 during the 5th on the Tulsa stadium gun.
Thank Dennis Martinez.
You may be right, but I saw the 11 minute video of him last year from PB with Dennis overlooking him in the BP when Carlos still had the old delievry. The delievry is even different than when i saw Carlos this March.
So he was basically taking a longer stride and using more of his legs when he was pitching?
He’s also going more straight towards the plate. Hiding the ball more and going over the top.
Thanks for the update.
Cardinals have signed James Ramsey for 1.6 million.
Thats a lot more money than some of we’re hoping for. Cardinals must view him as a first round talent and I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. I was one of many lambasting the Wong pick last year :/
Tweet from Tyrell Jenkins “Starting wednesday vs Wisconsin..Off the DL ready to go! “
Thanks for the updates on CM. Hope Ramsey is the real deal. Great to see
Tyrell back off the DL.
