I'd be reluctant to trade Adams. Next year, we again have the situation where there is no room in the lineup to play both Craig and Adams ... except in interleague play and when one of Holliday, Beltran or Craig either can't play or needs a rest and when we steal starts from Beltran in CF. Given the fragility of Craig (and the fact that Carlos is getting old), I really don't think we will have any trouble find playing time for Adams over the course of the 2013 season. The following season in 2014 (when Carlos is gone), then we have to find PT for Taveras. Given he plays all 3 OF positions and taking into consideration interleague play (where either Craig or Adams can DH) and Craig's injury history, I think we can find plenty of AB's for OT. Someone inevitably goes on the DL and he'll start for a month or two straight.

I'd rather the team make do with the starters we currently are trotting out there and look for help in the bullpen. Somebody is going to want to dump salary with an overpaid reliever and would take back middling prospects like Cox plus other spare parts. I just don't see this as a year for the Cards to go all in. Carp is hurt and probably needs surgery. Adam Wainwright isn't Adam Wainwright right now and may never be again. We don't have the top of the rotation horses right now to be a top team but we might be able to sneak into the play offs with just a tweak or two to the roster. I very much prefer tweaks to the roster this season rather than the radical move we made last season trading Colby. Lightning generally doesn't strike twice in the same spot in back to back years.

I agree he is not the ideal guy to trade for, but he's been pitching great lately. I know he has a reputation for being super streaky, but since rejoining the rotation on May 30, here are his numbers: 6 GS, 37.1 IN., 2.41 ERA, 4.82 Hits/9 3.38 BB/9. The walk rate isn't great, but other than that the numbers are really impressive.

Tbird I agree with you. Seems that Adams may be the one to go. He has been absolutely tearing it up in AAA and his MLB stint had to improve his stock. I don't see the brewers trading us Greinke but liriano seems possible. If we can get a SP, then I say we move Lynn or Kelly to the pen, then move the other when and if Carp or Garcia come back. That would REALLY improve our bullpen

Not to add anything to your speculation, my opinion is that Adams is the most logical trade candidate, because he carries more value than Cox and is blocked at 1B by Alan Craig. OT will slot into RF. Adams has put together a very productive MILB career and showed flashes in his debut. Adams carries good value at this moment and could very well be the top piece in a deal for a starter, such as Liriano or Grienke.

Taveras went boom again, and Rosey got the W despite giving up two HRs, one to mega-prospect Jurickson Profar.

Adams didn't play again today. Is something up?
