It seems that a number of the Latin American pitchers from AA (maybe AAA/STL if Cleto’s improvement continues, and if Sanchez could improve his control)on down through the Domincan Summer League have pitched well so far. If they can keep that up, it would add considerably to the depth of the system. They could be fun follows going forward (and that does not include the expensive signing from last season [can't think of his name], who is stuck apparently if identification/age verification limbo).

Any Rumors or else about international draft? Looks Like so far we have nothing going on as other teams have signed some top talent.

  3. RawLaw says:

Beras, castillo, arias , hope we can sign someone :)

  4. Lou Schuler says:

The Cards have announced signing Joshua Lopez, a 5’9″ catcher from Venezuela, Edmundo Sosa, a long-armed shortstop from Panama, and an outfielder named Luis Bandez. BA has scouting reports on the first two. Haven’t seen anything on Bandez.

    • Lou Schuler says:

Sorry, it’s Bandes. Goold says he’s from Venezuela.

BA says Sosa projects as a contact-hitting middle infielder. They like Lopez’s footwork and overall catching skill.

    • Matt says:

The only notes on Bandes I can find are from Badler’s post on the signing. Mentions showing power in games but that’s about it.

  5. Gruntosaurus says:

Note that under other teams’ international signings, the Phillies have signed a Dominican outfielder named … Pujols.

Sorry, Phils, but that train has left the station. :-)

Another stinker for Miller…I am officially getting concerned. Outside of his velo being a little down has anyone seen him live a few times this year? I’m wondering if its control, offspeed pitchers, bad pitch selection, bad luck, or what that is keeping him from breaking through this year.

  7. RawLaw says:

better to struggle in the Minors than think he is better than he is , right? get some hard knocks and learn from them ?

  8. John I says:

James Ramsey will make an appearance on the DFR. Excited what he can do at Palm Beach. The two studs at AA just continue to be studs, it is incredible.
