Jim, I see where McElroy has 11 walks and 14 strikeouts in 98 at bats. He's hitting close to .300 and has stolen 14 bases in 15 attempts.

More good news: Carson Kelly had a base on balls last night.

Steve Bean struck out two more times (24 strike outs in 59 at bats) and is hitting .119.

Jeffries has some really odd numbers. He seems to have a great batting eye as he has drawn 13 walks in around 80 plate appearances. Yet he has struck out an ugly 34 times. The only time I recall seeing both walks and K's together like that is with power guys. But his game is more small ball and speed. Very strange.

Were any readers at that Memphis-Albuquerque game? Did they try to start it before it was scrubbed? One of the most awesome thunderstorms I've ever seen in my life was at Isotopes Park, the night Barry Bonds hit homer number 755 (curse him) -- parts of the sky turned an eerie lime green just before it hit, not like the green you get in Illinois or Missouri when there may be a tornado lurking in the vicinity, but a bright green. It was like a window on heaven, one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life. I've never seen anything like it. If people at this non-game got anything similar, they were better off than if they'd got the game in, particularly considering what a crummy team Memphis has had this year. (Although it would have been fun to see how many dingers Adams could hit out of that launching pad.)
