When does Breyvic Valera get promoted?
Was able to attend tonights SPF game. Martinez was sitting 94-97 topped 98-99 good movement didn’t have consistent command of it , again SPF gun has known to be fast. His sinker was sitting 92-94 was able to produced 7 groundouts off it. His curve-ball actually looked sharp tonight still lacks consistent arm speed was 77-79 still got hitters way out in front of it getting severally swing and misses. Change-up was pretty sharp as well 83-85 good depth. Martinez delivery is still a little violent not as violent as it was in PMB worked from the 1st base side of the rubber. Martinez impressed me some he has really polished up some this season explained by that high GB rate.
Also talked to a Tampa Bay scout said he really liked Seth Maness but right now there evaluating every prospect.
It would make you think that the Cards are trying to get Shields. Beyond him I don’t see who they have that realisticly the Cards would want or they would trade.
I guess the Cards could have interest in pitchers Wade Davis (RHP) and Jake McGee (LHP), but historically Tampa doesn’t trade guys like that they have contract control over. Howell (LHP) is a possibility. On the DL they have Niemann who would be a very good get particularly for the future, but again generally they do not trade guys like that.
Shields has been very inconsistent recently. Since Tampa is still in the wild card, you would hate to give them too much in the way of prospects, but if it is Shields then it might be someone pretty good. Not saying that that would be who Tampa would want but I would be interested in what your Tampa scout friend thinks of Perez since Tampa does need a catcher for the future. I was not ever aware that Perez was that highly rated, but you never know.
There were also 3 scouts from TB, 1 scout from Colorado, 1 from Kansas City, and 3 others unknown.
Zobrist maybe?
Maybe, but I really don’t have any reading about whether the Rays are trading for this year (doubt they would then trade Zobrist, Davis or McGee), or if they are trying to manipulate assets (Shields) for the future, which seems to be the direction in which they usually try to trade.

There are scouts at every game.
Siegrist is really intriguing southpaw hopefully he can stay healthy because he’s got solid stuff low 90s fastball good control projected at 6-foot-5 good repertoire.
From GCL Wacha pitched a scoreless inning in his start. Boone Whiting and Seth Blair both pitched an inning in there rehab assignments. Foody pitched as well 3 2/3 inning 6H 5R 5ER 1BB 8K.
Glad to see this isn’t a total lost year for Blair, who I still am hoping can get it together
Wong is really struggling. I hope Valera gets promoted sooner than later. Also, Jackson, Garcia, Wong. At the start of the season, who’s starting the middle infield at AAA and are any of the three on the big club?
Wong looked over matched at the plate last night against every pitcher.
Pretty interesting splits from Valera the switch hitter who is currently batting .424 against LHP from the Right side of the plate and is batting .325 against RHP from the left side of the plate. No wonder this kid has a knack for squaring up to the ball.
Jackson will be with the big club, spelling Furcal. (Green will be dumped.) Garcia and Wong will pair up in AAA.
Are you a member of the front office?
No, I just play one on the Internet.
So how do we feel about Fuentes with the big club?
does scrabble have options left?
Marte was optioned. And yes, I believe Scrabble does, but don’t quote me on that.
Well, i guess him and Marte can’t really get outs right now, so either way.
Some interesting splits for the switch hitter Valera. He’s batting .424 against LHP from the right side of the plate small sample of 36 AB though, he’s batting .325 against RHP batting from the left side of the plate 120 AB. No wonder he has such a good knack at squaring up to the ball.
Valera is just good. Plain and simple.
Lyons in 8 starts ERA at Triple A. 5.01 ERA but has been getting no support from his defense he owns a 3.67 FIP. He’s actually owns pretty solid numbers minus the ERA, and the HR/9. 8.87 K/9, 24.0 K rate, 5.7 walk rate 2.12 BB/9 held opponents to a .239 AVG 1.16 WHIP in 8 starts.
Chuckie Fick was DFA’d to make room for Fuentes on the 40 man.
