Going to see the polished up less violent delivery of Carlos Martinez pitch tonight.
Looking forward to a full report, DT.
Some other intriguing prospects on the mound tonight. Lyons a southpaw with an over the top type delivery sits in the 88-92 range on his fastball. His numbers this season 17 GS (SPF and Memphis) 105 IP 4.37 ERA 3.78 FIP 3.59 SIERA 47.6 GB rate 21.3 K Rate 6.6 walk rate 29BB/94 K 1.32 WHIP. Siegrist another LHP with solid stuff. His numbers through 9 starts he hasn’t been healthy all season 47 IP 3.21 ERA 4.31 FIP 44.5 GB rate 17.5 K Rate 9.3 walk rate 18BB/34 K 1.15 WHIP. And then there’s Victor De Leon a guy with a “big arm” command has improved this season would like to see bigger sample of starts from him.
Lyons does not sit 88-92 with his fastball. I’ve seen him live 3 times this season and his last start before heading to Memphis he didn’t ‘touch’ 90 (on the Springfield gun). It wasn’t his best outing of the three games I’ve attended this year, and may not speak to his potential velocity down the road. However, unless you have some kind of first-hand knowledge that those of us going to the games don’t have, it is irresponsible to post, typically unsourced, things like this.
Sorry that’s what I meant to post. I’ve seen him pitch one time this season in SPF he was sitting in the range of 86-89 mph in that game against the Naturals.
I’m not buying the Lyons at 89-92, last time I saw him(this spring) he was a soft tosser. Siegrist throws harder than he does.
Victor de Leon’s command took a big step backward on the 8th with 5 BB’s. He hasn’t pitched since then… so apparently was shut down for a bit.
Will be interesting to see what the upshot is…
Every starter is interesting today/tonight. Looking forward to results.
JC game ppd. Rain I suppose. They should play in Indiana, we’ve forgotten what rain looks like.
Signed 2 more Dominican kids.

Interesting pitching lineup in the GCL tonight….Wacha, Whiting, Blair, and Copeland.
I continue to be a huge fan of Siegrist. The guy is so good and if he stays healthy, he’s gonna make a solid run at our rotation.
