Springfield gets stomped and Palm Beach destoys their competition. A nice outing for John Gast in Memphis despite not picking up the win.

Memphis 4, Round Rock 8

  • Matt Adams was 2-for-4 with a walk.
  • Steven Hill was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk.
  • Lou Montanez was 3-for-4 with a double and a walk.
  • John Gast had a nice outing with 9 punchouts over 6 innings.  He did allow 3 runs on 7 hits while walking 1.  Gast needed 102 pitches to complete the outing.
  • Jess Todd pitched an inning allowing 2 unearned runs after a Eugenio Velez error. Todd struck out 1 and allowed 2 hits.
  • Maikel Cleto allowed 3 runs on 3 hits in an inning of work.

Springfield 4, NW Arkansas 12

  • Kolten Wong was 2-for-5 with a double.
  • Oscar Taveras was 0-for-2.
  • Richard Castillo was destroyed for 10 runs (8 earned) in just 3 innings.  He walked 2 and allowed 11 hits.
  • Justin Wright pitched a pair of scoreless frames allowing 1 hit and striking out 2.

Palm Beach 12, Tampa 0

  • Mike O’Neill was 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles.
  • Starlin Rodriguez was 4-for-5 with a double.
  • James Ramsey was 3-for-6 with a double and a triple.  He also stole his 9th base of the season.
  • Alan Ahmady was 3-for-5 with a walk and a double.
  • Ryan Sherriff struck out 4 in 6 innings of work. He allowed 4 hits.
  • Palm Beach out hit Tampa 23 to 6.

Quad Cities 2, Kane County 3

  • Matt Williams was 3-for-5 with a double.
  • David Medina was 2-for-3 with a walk.
  • Anthony Melchionda was perfect at the plate with a 4-for-4 day.
  • Dail Villanueva allowed just an unearned run in 6 innings of work.  He struck out 4 and walked 2 while allowing 5 hits.
  • Kyle Barraclough allowed 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 4 in 2 innings.

Batavia 2, Staten Island 1

  • A weak day at the plate for the Muckdogs who collect just 6 singles and 3 walks.
  • Ben O’Shea struck out 6 in 5 innings allowing 1 hit.
  • Brandon Creath picked up his second save striking out 2 in a perfect 9th inning.

Johnson City 4, Danville 0

  • Michael Knox (1B) was 0-for-2 with a pair of walks.
  • Cesar Valera (SS) went 2-for-2 and walked twice.
  • Dutch Deol (RF) hit his 1st home run of the year in the 9th inning. It was his only hit in 4 at bats for the day.
  • Zachary Petrick struck out 4 and allowed 2 hits in 6 innings pitched.
  • Sam Tuivailala had a wild outing walking 2 and striking out the side in his inning of work.

    Any word on why Taveras was replaced after only two at bats?

    Remember Dutch is only 19. He’s starting to get his bearings. May still be a sleeper in the long run.

    Michael Blazek -Springfield Cards- Started 8 horrible games , then moved to relief and has 20 better games-is he a keeper?
