Some good arms pitching tonight. Sam Gaviglio the groundball specialist has been pitching well of late owns a 58.1% groundball rate this season also has shown his above average control only 2.14 BB/9 and a 5.5% walk rate. Gaviglio sits 86-89 on his fastball he gets tremendous sink explained by the high groundball rate mixes in a above average change-up and solid slider.

Victor De Leon fastball sits at 93-95 mph and he can run it up to 97 he doesn’t many bats as his velocity would suggest because his fastball flattens out when he leaves it up in the zone. His control and command have improved a lot this season other than his past two starts, he’s shown a solid slider and a developing change-up. De Leon is plenty raw only 20 years old it will take him a while to develop.

Fangraphs write up on converted catcher Robert Stock.

“One of the more highly-regarded prospects, Stock was a two-way player in both high school and college. He wanted to be an everyday player when he turned pro but gave up that dream after three minor league seasons when he hit just .241. The 22-year-old has been pitching in low-A ball with mixed results. His ERA is 4.39 (5.06 FIP) and he has a strikeout rate of 8.63 K/9. Control has been the big problem for Stock; his walk rate is 5.89 BB/9. “

GCL played a day game lost 5-3 some prospects in this game.

Kenny Peoples Walls went 2-3 with a HR and 2 RBI. Walls is very raw but he’s showing signs of taking off with the bat batting .387 in his past 10 games.

Steve Bean went 2-3 with walk he’s finally not at a level where he’s not over matched at the plate.

8th round pick in this season draft Yoenny Gonzalez 1-3 with a walk stole his 13th base. Gonzalez has a lot of athletic ability and speed let’s see what he can do with that.

Luis Perdomo is intriguing prospect that has sits in the low 90s he pitched 4 innings 6H 4R 4ER 1BB 2K.

Kurt Heyer pitched a scoreless frame 1H 2K. The Cardinals continue to limit his workload because of the work he had in college.
