Jonathan Singleton murdered Springfield, Brandon Dickson mowed down Tacoma and Palm Beach plays a double header as the system goes 2 and 5. Some solid pitching performances from soft-tossing lefties, although not without a few hits along the way.
- Adron Chambers was 2-4 and stole a base.
- Lou Montanez was 1-3 with a walk.
- Lance Zawadzki hit a double.
- Brandon Dickson was not unhittable: 4 of the 5 hits he gave up were extra bases, 2 were home runs. His control, however, was impeccable as he struck out 11 and walked none over 5 innings.
- Nick Greenwood finished the other two innings, giving up 3 hits and an unearned run while striking out 1 and walking none.
Springfield 9, Corpus Christi 20
- Oscar Taveras hit a double.
- Jamie Romak was 3-5 with a double.
- Greg Garcia hit a double and a triple, now OPSing .863.
- Kolten Wong was 0-5. Since his red hot April, Wong has deteriorated at the plate and has only walked 2.1% of the time in August.
- Alan Ahmady walked twice.
- None 0f the pitchers were any good, especially Deryk Hooker who threw 2 wild pitches, walked 2 and gave up 3 earned runs without retiring a single batter.
- Tyler Rahmatulla has been dismal since his promotion, with a wOBA of .229. He was 1-2 with a pair of throwing errors at third base.
- Seth Blair is still Seth Blair, walking 3 over 4.0 IP.
- Aiden Lucas struck out 4 in 2 scoreless IP.
- Geoffrey Klein doubled and scored.
- Starlin Rodriguez, Cody Stanley, Rainel Rosario and Ronny Gil all singled.
- Kyle Hald threw 6 innings, almost a complete shortened game, giving up 8 hits but only 2 runs while striking out 5 and walking none.
- Nick Longmire has looked more in his league since being demoted back to Quad Cities, hitting a home run and a double (but still striking out twice).
- Matt Williams took a couple walks and doubled. He also commited a fielding error at shortstop.
- Sam Gaviglio can pitch to contact, but was still mediocre with 4 ER 2 HR and 2 BB in 7 IP.
- Patrick Wisdom has been solid for Batavia, going 2-4 with a triple.
- Danny Stienstra was 2-4 with a double.
- David Washington was 3-4 with a walk and home run.
- Garrett Wittels also hit a double.
- Edit: slow day in the farm system, got the wrong pitchers. Throw this one in the blogging blooper reel.
- Kyle Helisek wasn’t crisp, allowing 10 hits and 4 for extra bases but still only gave up 1 earned run in 6 IP, striking out 5 and walking 1.
- Leandro Mateo was 2-4 with a double and a walk.
- Jeremy Schaeffer was 2-4 with a walk.
- Adam Ehrlich was 0-2 but walked twice.
- The infant Carson Kelly was 1-5.
- The pitching was forgettable.

Nothing too exciting in the minors on this day
Nothing too exciting in the Majors on this day either.
Ramsey’s average continues to plummet.
Seth Blair actually takes a step forward from bad to mediocre with this outing.
and why isn’t Matt Adams playing again?
Adams to have surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow. Done for the season.

Damn
Double-damn!
Also Dickson has really picked up his strike rate the last five outings. Is he doing something differently or throwing a new pitch?
He’s trying to get back to STL.
Scruggs has really been productive lately, starting to threaten Oscar for the RBI lead for Springfield. I gotta think he gets a shot in Memphis
Scruggs power potential intrigues me, the AVG and high strikeout rate plummet his prospect status though.
Jeremy Schaffer now in only 46 games 7 HR 41 RBI 17 doubles .274 AVG .313 OBP .497 SLG .810 OPS. Scahffer’s best tool is his hit tool question is where does he fit defensively.
Probably DH. Lots of errors for a first baseman.
Here’s a name to proofread:
Manaure Martinez
I didn’t know we were reduced to making up names for this report, and not just Manaure. See the ones that follow “him.” The time might have been spent more profitably by noticing that Palm Beach played two games yesterday and won the second 3-2 with an effective start by Hald. Granted, not as amusing, however.
Gaviglio continues to be a groundball specialist as his groundball rate is now up to 59.0%.
Thanks for the update about Williamsport pitchers Brady, Martinez, and Aizinstadt. Stephen Inch is now disappointed he wasn’t included.
Quad Cities will have competion for first base next season with De la Cruz, Washington, Steenstra and Shaffer all possibilities. At 24, Steenstra may get a shot at PB with his strong showing this year. Switching Bean and Ehrlich has been a good move as Bean is now hitting over .300 and Ehrlich has really been hot, hitting better than he did in the gcl.
