That’s what Scout.com was calling it, but according to Quad City Times reporter Steve Batterson (cool name for a baseball writer), Whiting was out due to a shoulder injury.

The QC paper says Jenkins tore a “lateral muscle” in his shoulder.

No idea what a lateral muscle is, but if he tore his latissimus dorsi, that’s pretty serious. Well, torn anything is pretty serious.

Was at the game. Taveras pulled his hamstring a bit when rounding third base didn’t look that bad took him out for precautionary reasons.
