Whiting reminds me a lot of the Brewers hurler Mike Fiers. Both pitchers depend on deception, both sit in the high-to-low 90s consistently and both also have outstanding change-ups. Just to note Fiers throws a slider, and a curve as well similar repertoires.

Whiting doesn’t have particularly over powering stuff only sits 88-91 consistently on his fastball changes speeds well and relies on his excellent command. Like BigJawnMize stated “Whiting is very deceptive” especially when using his very deceptive change-up which it turns to make his heater velocity look even faster also throws a curve, and a slider.

I guess I was reaching for somebody that had really good numbers coming up through the lower minors but might not have enough stuff to be effective at the major league level.

I’m amused at the notion that 6’1″, 175# (Whiting) is a similar body type to 5’11″, 210# (Todd).
