There was a good mix of hitting and pitching performances down on the farm as the teams went 3-3 on the night. Matt Adams and Stephen Piscotty had good nights with the bat and Ben Freeman and Kyle Hald were good on the mound. Let’s get to the good stuff…..
Author ArchiveThere were only four games played down on the farm and the teams split them down the middle with a record of 2-2. Oscar Taveras, Greg Garcia and Xavier Scruggs helped make up for a terrible start from Seth Maness in a game that ended up as a Springfield win. It was a bad night for starters in general with the exception being Sam Gaviglio who pitched a gem which powered Quad Cities to a win. Let’s get to the good stuff….. The good Shelby Miller made an appearance right before the trade deadline. Overall the farm system went 5-1. Jermaine Curtis continues to hit and Michael Wacha had a very successful Palm Beach debut. On to the good stuff…. Palm Beach managed to eke out a 1-0 game powered by the arm of Kevin Siegrist. Quad Cities was off and Johnson City was postponed so the overall record down on the farm was 1-3. Let’s get to the good stuff….. It was an offensive night down on the farm. The system went 4-2 and no Cardinal affiliate scored less than five runs. Cody Stanley played a good game for Palm Beach and Mariano Llorens continues to impress for Johnson City. Memphis was the only team to record a win on a night when Palm Beach was postponed and Quad Cities had the day off. That makes for a combined record of 1-3. Some of the top individual performers on the night were Matt Adams, John Gast, Breyvic Valera and Jeremy Schaffer. Let’s get to the good stuff….. To this point, Jake Shaffer is 2-2 w/ solo homer and Scott McGregor has pitched superbly w/ 4.0 shutout innings. The game update will be posted in the appropriate DFR. In other baseball news, the National League put a hurting on the American League by a score of 8-0. David Freese struck out in his only AB, Rafael Furcal tripled and was driven home by his real life teammate Matt Holliday. Just for fun, if you watched the game, what player were you most impressed by? My vote goes to Craig Kimbrel who looked absolutely unhittable. Throwing 100mph gas and then backing that up with a hard, tight slider. Wow. What say you FR Nation? The farm went 4-1 last night and the offenses provided some real highlights in the four wins. Johnson City accounted for the one loss, they got shutout and their starter got knocked out of the game before the end of the first inning. Many good performances to get to so let’s get to the good stuff….. Get ready for some offensive stats. Memphis had an offensive explosion but the pitching staff could not hold up their end of the bargain. Springfield lost despite a decent but abbreviated start by Carlos Martinez. The rest of the teams won their contests including Quad Cities who got a promising start from Tyrell Jenkins and a lot of offense from Steven Piscotty and company. On to the good stuff…. James Ramsey had a successful professional debut for Palm Beach and the dynamic duo of Kolten Wong and Oscar Taveras led Springfield to a win. Overall, the farm went 2-4 on the night.
