But as Lloyd Christmas once asked “so you’re saying there’s a chance”? I applaud the Cardinals for drafting him. If Zack Cox does play hard ball, they could always offer Cox’s big bonus to Wilson. Maybe he’ll bite. Nicholas Longmire 6′ 2″ 210 lbs 1/5/1989 University of the Pacific, CA Join up with Azruavatar and other Future Redbirds regulars to chat during the second day of the draft. Cardinals pick Seth Blair, Tyrell JenkinsPosted on June 7th, 2010 by erik in 2010 MLB Draft, tags: seth blair, tyrell jenkinsSorry for the delayed reaction. I have Microsoft Security Essentials, and occasionally it decides it needs to update without my consent. I had a bazillion things running in the background, and it caused my computer to grind down to a halt. Anyway, in my opinion this has been a great night for Jeff Luhnow and company. After getting the best pure hitter in the draft, the Cardinals were able to draft two very good arms with some upside in Blair and Jenkins. This draft has shaped up very nicely for the Cardinals (thanks, Cubs!) and now they get the best pure hitter in the draft at #25. Signability is an issue, as Cox is a sophomore. I don’t think he’ll be able to do better in the stacked 2011 draft, so he’d be wise to sign, and I have to think the Cardinals will do what it takes to get it done. I wonder about his overall power potential, but at #25, this is absolutely tremendous. The news of the day: No one seems to know what the heck is going on. Keith Law speculates in his final mock that the Cardinals pick will be San Diego lefty Sammy Solis in his latest mock and says the Cardinals are NOT in on Stetson Allie, but maybe AJ Cole. I don’t disagree with Solis being a possible pick for the Cardinals, but not in the first round. Hummel said the Cardinals are looking for lefty pitching, power and speed, and this is what Keith is basing his reasoning on. Jim Callis’ pick for the Cardinals is Christian Colon, although he speculates they could take any player falling in the draft because of bonus demands, risk, etc. That includes Grandal, who was rumored to have a pre-draft deal with the Royals. Turns out that rumor wasn’t true, although the Royals still are on Grandal. Happy draft day, everyone. See you all tonight. |
