Matt Bakers covers the S-Cards for the Springfield News-Leader, and has stepped right in where Kary Booher has left off in putting together some great coverage for the team. You just don’t get the sort of coverage he brings from most AA teams, and he was kind enough to take some time out of his schedule and answer some of my questions about the team and his impressions of the players.

Josh Kinney‘s rehab starts have gone very well. He’s been away from the Cardinals for a long time now, but he had become a calming presence in the big team’s bullpen before his injury, so it would be great if he could return to that form.

The Quad Cities Times had a nice write-up on Curt Smith yesterday. He’s played really well since getting drafted in the 39th round – it will be interesting to see if he is able to continue his success as he moves up the ladder next year.

Part one and part two got us through the twenty-seventh round and this finale will take us all the way to the end. The odds are extremely long for these guys, but there are several interesting guys at the bottom of this year’s draft for the Cardinals that bear watching.
