Oscar Taveras hit his 7th homerun of the season in a Springfield victory and Jonathan Rodriguez continued his hot street while helping Palm Beach to a victory. Quad Cities was swept in a double header despite Tyrell Jenkins’ solid start and his penchant for missing bats.

On the hitting side, Allen Craig makes a case for immediate activation from the DL, Oscar Taveras continues his assault on the Texas League, and Virgil Hill has a coming out party. Quad Cities was rained out and a double header is now scheduled for Tuesday. Memphis wins late and Palm Beach blanks the opposition. Just Palm Beach picks up the win. An uneven day for the starting pitchers as Memphis and Quad Cities both get rocked. Several close games today as the farm system goes 2-for-2. Chris Edmondson has a distinguishing night and Kyle Hald comes back strong from a disastrous previous start. Allen Craig continues his rehab assignment and Oscar Taveras swats his second HR in two days, but only Quad Cities could escape with a win today. Oscar Taveras won the poll with 2 hits (1 of which was a HR), though his competition was reduced since Kolten Wong didn’t play and Starlin Rodriguez exited his game early. Memphis put together a strong all around performance that culminated in a win. Springfield was dominated by a top pitching prospect and Allen Craig makes an appearance in a Palm Beach loss. Finally, Quad Cities has an offensive explosion but Mr. Jenkins didn’t need much as he pitched the team to his first victory of the young season. Palm Beach had the only win of the day, although they did it without their ringer, Allen Craig. He sat out for the second day in a row, having played only one game in his rehab assignment. The team’s recent attempts to bring back injured players have been messy, hopefully this is them being careful with an increasingly critical asset. Quad Cities lost their game in the ninth but remain the only Cardinals minor league affiliate above .500. As long as the big club is winning… |
