The story of the night has to be Trevor Rosenthal’s first successful start in Memphis. He didn’t get the run support he needed for a win and the bullpen imploded but Rosenthal pitched well.
Archive for the “Daily Farm Reports” CategoryThere was a good mix of hitting and pitching performances down on the farm as the teams went 3-3 on the night. Matt Adams and Stephen Piscotty had good nights with the bat and Ben Freeman and Kyle Hald were good on the mound. Let’s get to the good stuff….. There were only four games played down on the farm and the teams split them down the middle with a record of 2-2. Oscar Taveras, Greg Garcia and Xavier Scruggs helped make up for a terrible start from Seth Maness in a game that ended up as a Springfield win. It was a bad night for starters in general with the exception being Sam Gaviglio who pitched a gem which powered Quad Cities to a win. Let’s get to the good stuff….. The good Shelby Miller made an appearance right before the trade deadline. Overall the farm system went 5-1. Jermaine Curtis continues to hit and Michael Wacha had a very successful Palm Beach debut. On to the good stuff…. Not much offense in the upper minors today, save for a homer by a certain Hawaiian. Another solid outing by Carlos Martinez, if a bit shaky in the control department, as the system goes 2-4. Springfield gets stomped and Palm Beach destoys their competition. A nice outing for John Gast in Memphis despite not picking up the win. Sorry for the delay. Puppy problems threw off the morning plans. Tomorrow’s post will probably be a bit delayed as well. Kind of a quiet night for prospects on Friday. Have a good weekend. Not a good showing for the system today. Johnson City won thanks to a little bit of power and speed from its usual suspects. Quad Cities couldn’t finish off their comeback; they scored 4 in the 9th but then gave up the winning run in the bottom of the frame. Details after the jump… The system went 2-and-3 tonight. After two steps in the right direction (in terms of results), our top pitching prospect took a step backwards tonight. And the big bats came out for Springfield. And… I hope you don’t mind, but I took Johnson City’s night off as an opportunity to jot down a few musings on some of the club’s more interesting players. Details after the jump… |
