Updated Positional Depth Chart Part 1Posted by Pierce in Prospect rankings, tags: Bryan Anderson, Kolten Wong, Matt Adams, shelby millerThe St. Louis Cardinals have upgraded their farm system in a major way the past two seasons. Just last year Baseball America ranked their club 29th out of all 30 major league teams. They received a relatively small bump up to being ranked 24th earlier this season after the Cardinals drafted Zack Cox, Tyrell Jenkins, and saw the beginning of the rise of a now highly touted prospect by the name of Carlos Martinez. In 2012, it’s entirely possible that the Cardinals will receive a consensus Top 10 ranking. Below is an updated depth chart for the top position player in the Cardinals system for each respective position. Due to length, I’ve broken it down into two parts, the second of which will be posted tomorrow. For each player, a breakdown of their skills is included in addition to other information and statistics that I found interesting in their stance with the big club and their current league. This comment by Cariocacardinal got me thinking about a prospect stock market for Cardinals prospects. I’ll revisit this throughout the year, but who do you think has their stock up to start the season? Shelby Miller (code: SHEL) and Tyrell Jenkins (code:TYRE) look to have their stock way up. Whose stock is down? Daryl Jones (code: DJON) is plummeting. Is it a good time to buy DJON stock or are we talking about a continued free fall? Pete Kozma (code: KOZM) stock has been in a slow decline since draft day. Who would you buy low? Who would you sell high? Whose stock would you short? (betting on a decrease in stock value) I’ll hold you to your answers in the comments! Kevin Goldstein comes out with his Cardinals top prospect list today. Click away! I’ll be around from 1-2pm to answer any questions you want to ask for a live chat. I’ll be in meetings all day Friday so this is your BA discussion post. I’ll update it with the link when I have a chance but it will appear here eventually. |
