Daily Farm Report 8/9/08
Posted on August 9th, 2008 by fewgoodcards in Daily Farm Reports, tags: 2009 MLB DraftThe 2009 Draft is a long way away, but today scouting directors all over baseball were paying attention as the top high school prospects in the country took part in the AFLAC All-American game. It mostly took place during the Cardinals’ game, so I will have to go back and take a look at the tape before I give my full report, but it looks like a very talented class especially on the pitching side. The two lefties, Matt Purke and Tyler Matzek were very impressive from what I saw.
If you want to find out more about the players, saber scouting and baseball america both have break downs of the top talent. Once again this year a local kid was one of the stars. You will hear a lot about St. Charles’ own Jacob Turner between now and June. He was the starter for the west squad and fanned 5 in 2 shutout innings. Hopefully for him he won’t have a senior let down like Tim Melville did this year.
It sure was nice to see the Cardinals put a beat down on Zambrano wasn’t it?
The system finished 3-3 on the night, check out all the highlights inside.
