Azruavatar did a great job below taking a look at what he thinks will happen once the calendar turns to September and the minor league teams all end their season. The Cardinals only have two healthy minor league pitchers on their 40 man roster and considering how the Cardinals head honcho, Tony LaRussa uses pitchers, I expect more than Dickson and Cleto to be promoted in September. After the jump, let’s look at candidates to be dropped off the 40-man and who could be brought on.

- Is PJ Walters our own version of Yusmeiro Petit?
- Given the options, I really, really hope Jaime Garcia seizes the 5th starter job.
- Can we have a mulligan on that Mark DeRosa trade again? With bland and blander throwing out of our bullpen, it would be nice to have Perez and Todd back. Don’t even look at Perez’s Cleveland numbers, they will make you cry.
- I didn’t see the re-emergence of Hawksworth coming. Move over, Wonderbrad.
- I can see the organizational intrigue for Pete Parise. 58% groundball rate for any pitcher is interesting. I wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him in some sort of low-leverage role next season.

John Vuch has been with the Cardinals ever since he was a teenager, and has has played a vital role in several departments before settling into the role of being the Director of Minor League Operations. Few, if any, know more about the Cardinals and the inner workings the farm system. After settling down in Jupiter for spring training, John was kind enough to answer questions from myself and the other writers at FR. Good stuff, as always. Enjoy.

It actually was snowing here in Iowa for a few minutes. Snow! That’s just not right. Another sign of the season is Dan Syzmborski’s ZiPS projections are out. I’m sure someone at VEB will be covering the projections for the big club, here we’ll run down some of the minor leaguers projections. I’m sure most of you know by now these aren’t to be taken as gospel, and I’m not here to argue their merit. If you don’t care for them, come back another day. Some thoughts after the jump-

Ben Badler is one of the many talented writers at Baseball America, the standard bearer for all things prospects. Recently I asked him if he’d be up for some Q and A and he very graciously agreed to rap with us. I thoroughly enjoyed his answers and I’m sure you will as well. Thanks to Ben for taking the time out of his busy schedule to give us his insights on the Cardinal farm system.
